eID 2 FMP support

Where to turn, and what we need in order to help you quickly.

1

Contact

Questions, a bug found, or something that does not work as it should:

We answer on working days, usually within two days. There is no telephone helpdesk: a well-written email gets you further, faster, than a call in which we cannot see the screen.

2

What we need when something goes wrong

The more concrete your message, the shorter the back and forth. It helps enormously if you include:

  • the device and the iOS version (Settings → General → About)
  • the eID 2 FMP version — at the bottom of the Over eID 2 FMP screen
  • the FileMaker Go version, if it concerns the bridge
  • what you did, what you expected and what happened
  • a screenshot of the error message
Never send data from a real identity card. A screenshot of an error message is enough; if card data is visible on it, cover it up.

The APDU log

If a read fails, the log under APDU-verkeer is the most useful thing you can send. It shows which command went to the card and which status word came back. A photo of that screen usually points straight at the problem.

Try these first

Three things solve most of it.

  1. The self-testFileMaker → Zelftest. Nine checks, each with what you can do about it when it fails.
  2. Switch the reader off and onA Bluetooth reader still attached to another device is the most common cause of verbinden mislukt.
  3. Quit and reopen the appSwipe it away in the app switcher. That rebuilds the connection to the reader from scratch.

The full list of error messages and their causes is in chapter 9 of the manual.

4

What this app does not do

To avoid disappointment, because these questions keep coming back:

  • eID 2 FMP reads the Belgian identity card. Other cards are not supported.
  • The app uses the contact chip. Reading over NFC is not possible: FileMaker Go and iOS grant no APDU access there.
  • The app does nothing with the card's electronic signature or authentication.
  • The app keeps no history. If you want an archive, build it in your own FileMaker file.

5

About the card reader

You do not buy the reader from us. We sell no hardware and earn nothing from the referral. The model the app was tested with is the Sipiro M BT 4.0, also known as the FEITIAN bR301BLE, available at eidshop.be.

Warranty and repairs of the device go through the seller, not through us.

6

Privacy

What the app does with data is set out in full in the privacy policy. In short: there is no server of ours, nothing is stored, and the only destination is your own FileMaker file.
